Hi communty:
I consider sex education and skill building in school a critical part of preventing violence and abuse in relationships -- youth who understand their bodies and their rights over them may have a better chance of recognizing abusive behavior and/or asking for help, too.
The Prevention Office of the Oregon Department of Human Services is developing a curriculum to provide comprehensive sex education to 6th graders as a supplement to STARS (the abstinence curriculum). My Future My Choice is based on an effective program, but is modified to work as a curriculum deliverd by a teacher after his or her students have participated in STARS.
They are asking for feedback on the DRAFT curriculum, so if you are interested reviewing it, I'd be happy to share it with you. It is a large PDF file, so I will only send by request to avoid stuffing you inbox.
Please let me know if you are interested!
