Hello all!!

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month (as you may know), and we  
have lots of wonderful workshops, presentations and other events  
about self-defense and empowerment! Please check them out and forward  
this on to family, friends, and anyone else.

EVENTS:

PRESENTATION: self-defense for women
Lecture-style introduction to verbal, mental and physical strategies  
for safety and empowerment.
Monday, April 14th, 7-8 PM
Room 180 PLC (U of O campus) - FREE

TAKE BACK THE NIGHT!  Annual rally, march and speak out to raise  
awareness and support survivors of intimate partner and sexual  
violence!  Community wide event.  Free- Come one, come all!
Thursday, April 17th, tabling at 3:00, rally at 6:45
EMU Amphitheater (corner of 13th & University on U of O campus)

"Speaking Up! What does it look like?" A screening and discussion of  
a DVD on assertiveness for young women
Thursday April 24th, 6:30-8:00 PM
*Bascom Room, Eugene Public Library (10th and Olive in Eugene)
FREE and OPEN TO PUBLIC.  Parents and teenagers encouraged to attend.
Disclaimer: There is some portrayal of alcohol use by teenagers

WORKSHOP: Women's 2 hour Self-Defense Intro
Saturday, April 26th, 2-4PM
Introduction to verbal, mental and physical strategies for safety and  
empowerment.  Learn and practice some basic strategies.
Fee for class is whatever donation you can afford- great opportunity.

PRESENTATION: Self-Defense for Women by NADIA TELSEY, nationally  
known self-defense educator
Lecture-style introduction to verbal, mental and physical strategies

FREE and OPEN TO PUBLIC

Self-Defense for Young Women/Girls Workshop- 1.5 hour

a community service and do not endorse activities or groups using

CLASSES ( starting in April):

Self-Defense for Women through Lane Community College
Class starts April 2nd, Wednesdays from 6-8:30 PM, Downtown LCC location
Nadia Telsey will be teaching an 8 week self-defense class for women  
about verbal, physical and mental strategies for safety and well-being.
Must register via Lane Community College (463-3000 or 463-5252 or  
www.lanecc.edu).  Cost is $99.

Self-Defense for Girls:
8 week class for girls 11-15 years of age (not a mother-daughter class)
Starts April 23rd, Wednesdays from 4:00-5:30 PM
We teach a combination of verbal, mental and physical strategies for  
safety and well-being.
Registration is required.  Cost is on a sliding scale from $40-80  
($10 discount if registered by April 4th). Some scholarships are  
available.
