Healthy Start Family Screener*
 
Birth To Three, a nonprofit agency specializing in parent education and 
support, invites applications for the position of Healthy Start Family 
Screener.
 
General Purpose of Position: Screen, make referrals, and share 
information with first birth families in Lane County.
 
General Expectations:
Agency
·    Serve as an effective representative of Birth To Three's Mission, 
Goals, and Values
·    Be familiar with all Birth To Three programs

volunteers, student interns, co-workers, supervisors, families, 
community members, and professionals
    * Utilize supervision effectively
    * Accept and use constructive feedback from others to improve job

    * Support co-workers in doing their jobs and function as an 
effective member of the team
    * Respect and value people of diverse cultures, ethnicity, sexual 
orientation, religion, ability, style, etc.

Job Duties:
·    Liaison with prenatal screening partners, collect screens
·    Build rapport quickly with families to complete screens
·    Use standardized screening tools to interview and screen families 
in order to offer Healthy Start Services
·    Keep up to date about resources in our community, including all of 
Lane County
·    Assure ongoing supply of Welcome Baby Packets, other materials
·    Attend staff meetings, case conferences, in-service training and 
other meetings as required
·    Accurately complete assigned paperwork in a timely manner
·    Data Entry
 
Supervision Received From: Healthy Start Program Manager
 
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
·    Maintain a high level of professionalism in many settings
·    Maintain collaborative working relationships with hospital staff
·    Well educated in Infant/Early childhood issues such as: lactation, 
attachment, Perinatal Mood Disorders, child development, etc.
·    Knowledge of family stresses and strengths, substance abuse issues, 
family violence issues, positive discipline, problem solving, teen 
parent issues, mandatory reporting laws
·    Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred
·    Excellent written/communication skills
·    Computer skills: Microsoft office, data entry
·    Valid Oregon driver's license, reliable transportation and valid 
automobile insurance
·    Flexible schedule, possible weekends
 
Desired Education and/or Experience:

    * Bachelor's degree in a job related field and two years experience 
working locally in an early intervention or early childhood setting.

Bilingual preferred. Position is 20-30 hours. Benefits. Salary 
determined by experience.
